My Opinion: NCAA Get's it Wrong AGAIN!

The NCAA is about to make another annoyingly bad decision.  Rumors and reports say that The University of Southern California Football team are about to relieve a 2 year bowl ban and the loss of 20 scholarships for the Reggie Bush issues that have been investigated for over 3 years now.  This seems shocking considering that the NCAA rarely goes after the "Fair Haired" College teams, but USC is literally about to get hit so hard, I predict it could take 4-6 years to overcome this punishment...

I love me some Pete Carroll...yes I said it, I LOVE PETE CARROLL and we all knew his timing to leave collegiate athletics seemed very convenient, but I don't think any of us realized how convenient it really was until we started hearing how hard USC is about to go down.  So let's play devils advocate.  Yes, USC is ultimately responsible for violating rules and NCAA policy including actions taken by a coach who violates rules without the university knowing it.  HOWEVER, Ultimately it was Pete Carroll who was responsible for all of this mess and he no longer has to be held responsible!  Reggie Bush?  I highly doubt they will go after his Heisman, even though he and his family obviously violated policy to the 10th degree--he will still be able to gaze at his trophy while watching TV on his plasma and not have to sweat it (even if the award will be slightly tainted in the eyes of EVERYONE ELSE IN THE WORLD). 

So, who is getting screwed here?  Oh yeah...the hundreds of student athletes at USC that had no clue what was going on and if they did, they were excited and naive 18 year-olds who cannot be held accountable.  The University will lose money, recruits, donations, you name it!  But ultimately who is getting slammed the worst?  LANE KIFFIN.  Talk about an impossible situation--how are you supposed to establish yourself as a coach at a top BSC school when you will not be able to bring in the best of the best (unless the best of the best really aren't that into going to Bowl Games their freshman and sophomore years...yeah Bowl Games-totally boring and pointless, right?), thus being challenged to coach a team that isn't up to par for USC--now your own job is on the line---this snowball effect will take YEARS to fix....YEARS meanwhile being the whipping boy poster child for the NCAA. 

Do we need to monitor corrupt and rule breaking coaches and isntitutions?  ABSOLUTELY...however this needs to be done in a timely fashion--not after the guilty coach sits in a new coaching position without having to face a single rammification. Short of having Tim Tebow and his mom lead a prayer group with thousands of Compton citizens singing Jesus Loves Me, USC's reputation may be tarnished for the next decade (and honestly no one really wants to see Tim Tebow in Compton anyway)
